On November 6, 2018, Richa Awasthi was elected to serve a four-year term on the City Council.
Richa is a long time Foster City resident with her husband Amitabh, and their children Anish and Shyla.
Richa brings very unique skills and experience to the Council. At present, Richa serves as Vice President of Digital Payments at Wells Fargo Bank. She holds an MBA and over 20 years of corporate experience with leading financial services organizations including Franklin Templeton, Charles Schwab, Wells Fargo and Visa. She has worked extensively in the product strategy, development, and management space, having created and managed several innovative products and initiatives. She has a track record of action oriented and collaborative approach in driving innovation. In addition, Richa has been an ardent and active volunteer in Foster City. Prior to being a Councilmember, her commitments have included serving as Chair of the Foster City Innovation and Technology Advisory Committee and as Chair of the Site Council at Brewer Island Elementary. Currently, Richa is the only Foster City Councilmember who works full time in corporate America, and like many Foster City residents, juggles work life, traffic/ commute, and community service and is able to bring that perspective to the Council chambers.
Richa believes in bringing corporate rigor, discipline and pace to the way government functions and continually challenges herself, her colleagues and the staff to strive for excellence and higher standards, as she believes that would translate to City’s progress and improving the lives of our residents. Richa focuses on making decisions based on data and facts on what’s best for Foster City residents and having a communications approach that is simple and transparent to the community. She strongly believes that the local government should be focused on Community Service and not in politics.
Richa takes pride in being able to give back to the community and to be able to inspire others to do the same. She is excited to leverage her experience, skills and community engagement to serve Foster City residents and to contribute to creating a well thought out, fiscally strong and sustainable future for our City.
Foster City is a master planned community, meaning that there is a great deal of focus on the maintenance and appearance of private as well as public property. We thank you in advance for your assistance keeping your property well-maintained. Remember that permits are required for much of the work that you will have done…
